Cleaning

Materials that are shaped into a form for optical or electronic applications require a specific, perfectly clean surface morphology.  Cleaning involves the removal of particles and organic residue from prior manufacturing processes, and is particularly important prior to coating.  Any film left on the surface of the material may prevent the coating from properly adhering or cause premature device failure. The cleaning of ceramic parts is complicated by the porosity of the material and whether or not they have any exposed metals, which can corrode if not cleaned at the correct pH and with the correct chemistry.

Understanding the surface energy of the material being cleaned; the surface tension necessary to wet the substrate; the solubility of the residue; and the iso-electric point of the particle contaminants is basic to the development of an effective cleaning chemistry. Other determinants include the type of equipment being used  megasonic, ultrasonic, spray, brush, etc.; operational temperatures; and exposure time for the parts.  Intersurface Dynamics manufactures detergents designed for optimum results and functionality in all types of cleaning equipment, providing fast, efficient and effective removal of all types of contaminants on all types of materials.
